Falling In Love: Boots and Turtlenecks

We are on the cusp of the end fall; and the end of this year, I wanted to share a few favorite fall/winter pieces that keep me falling in love with Autumn every year! Fall is my favorite time of the year! I love everything fall! From the changing myriad of leaves, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING (literally, I may have a slight problem), other than pie, and the fashion!
Summer and I have a love-hate relationship. I love summer, only when on the beach. But fall, oh fall, how I love thee. Let me count the ways! I wanted to share a few of my favorite pieces, that I think could add a simple yet classic feel to your wardrobe.
Turtlenecks
First, the turtleneck, classic, timeless, effortless. If you want to add structure and a tailored look to your outfit, add a turtleneck this season. There is something so sophisticated, yet sexy about a turtleneck. It is so mind-boggling how you can be completely covered, yet sexy. I can not explain it. But when I put on a turtleneck, I feel like a boss. Random moment, when I see a turtleneck, especially a black turtleneck, I think of Nino Brown. Come on New Jack City! lol I can't help it!
Structured Comfortable Skirt
Secondly, a suede or leather skirt, faux or real, adds a nice plush, comfortable element to your look. This asymmetrical hem suede skirt is just what I needed. This rich luxe caramel color is everything. It screams, I am fall! I love the faux wrap look of this skirt as well. When I saw this, I knew I wanted it but was skeptical because my hips have a mind of their own. But this skirt gives just the right amount of stretch to be comfortable yet stylish.
The fabric was soft and just what I needed. Because I carry my weight in my lower body, fabric and stretch is imperative to most, if not all pieces in my wardrobe. I love to look polished, but comfortable. It is not often that I sacrifice comfort for the sake of a look. I really have to search for fabrics that have just enough stretch to give comfort and control, yet style.
The Knee Boot
Thirdly, the knee boot! I can not tell you all how long I have been searching for the perfect knee boot that would make way for these thick calves! So when I found that ShoeDazzle has wide calf stylish options, I had to try them. These faux snake black leather boots are chic and just what I thought they would be! I have large calves, so when they arrived, I was nervous but they fit! But I knew if I wanted to pair them with jeans and other thicker options, I had to get them altered.

There is the old school shoe shop Downtown Birmingham, that came to my rescue! Goodyear Shoe Hospital, located on 3rd Avenue, altered my boots and its undetectable. Listen! The pair of boots I have planned for the next look will blow your mind! If you have thick calves like me, don't give up! There is hope!
