Being Intentional: It Matters
This week's blog post comes in the form a love letter to all my subscribers! With all the transitions we have currently been forced to make, our actions and/or lack there of matters! Let's be intentional!
Faith and Works
How many times have you quoted the scripture, Faith without works is dead? For as much as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead, James 2:26. Or even, For without faith, it is impossible to please God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, Hebrews 11:6.
I ask these questions, not because I have not casually used these scriptures myself. Quite the contrary, I have use them often. Sometimes, not fully activating the power that they hold. I believe that too often we are treating the Word of God ordinary and not fully utilizing the potential weight it carries in our lives.
No Ordinary God
There is absolutely nothing ordinary about our God. And everything He did, does, and will do is done with intention. When He speaks, it is with intention. God does not haphazardly do anything in our lives. When He moves, it is with intention. There is strategic plan attached to everything He does. When He created the Sun, He knew it would be the main source of energy for every living creature on earth. When He created the stars, He knew we would need them to illuminate the night’s sky.
Every being created has specific purpose for which it was created. So, I would like to inform you, that you have a specific purpose and God created you with the intention for you to set flames to everything you touch!
An Intentional God
If God is intentional, I would presume that, we should also be intentional with our lives, purpose, and those we will encounter. Being intentional does not mean there will not be trial and error. That is simply a part of life. Being intentional simply means weighing your options before jumping in headfirst. For every action, there is a reaction. We cannot simply be concerned with the outcome; without fully understanding how and why we do what we do is directly related to the outcome. This is the reason being intentional is so important.
Work Your Faith
At the beginning, we spoke on two commonly used scriptures regarding faith, which is important as we talk about being intentional with our lives. Intentional means done on purpose, deliberate. This definition is important because we do not just stumble on faith. Faith is built. Faith is trusting God when you cannot trace Him. It is knowing that despite current situations, God has everything in control. It is knowing that nothing goes unused with God. If we allow Him, he will use it for our good. Operating in faith is intentional. If handled with care, we can turn that thing that was meant to destroy us into being intentional for our purpose.
Know that your decisions and choices matter. Too often, we make permanent decisions based on temporary factors. We all have at some point. Rarely do we make a decision that will not yield consequences, either favorable or unfavorable; consequences are sure to follow. Living an intentional life is knowing that everything tied to you matters.
What Are You Doing?
Putting your money where your mouth is, so to speak. Not just living as if nothing matters but living in a way you understand your work matters. Nothing just happens, it takes intentional actions accompanied with your faith. Your work is important as you move and navigate your life's decisions. If your work does not match your faith, its not fully activated.
When you are not doing anything, you are in fact doing something. What are you not doing? I am here to encourage you to remember to live an intentional life. Someone is waiting on you to walk in purpose and destiny. There are beautiful, fruitful blessings tied to your intentional actions concerning your life.
